BIBA

Bremer Institut für Produktion und Logistik GmbH is a private non-profit research institute developing technical and organizational solutions for problems from various areas of production, product development, logistics and other related disciplines. This particularly includes the research, development and application of Industry 4.0 technologies, innovative ICT, the automation of logistic processes and the collaboration of enterprises during the whole product lifecycle. Under the umbrella of PENELOPE, BIBA aims to enhance and increase the technological maturity of the technologies and methods it develops. Also, to improve its competencies in Industry 4.0, Item-Level PLM, Business Modelling, Knowledge-based engineering, VR&AR or Extended Products/Product-Service Systems.

A special emphasis in BIBA’s activities is placed upon the transferral of its RTD results into the industrial context. For that reason, BIBA cooperates with companies ranging from SMEs to large multinational companies to exploit its results and know-how in regional, national and European industries across many sectors, such as maritime, aeronautics, production or logistics. BIBA’s primary motivation is to reinforce its follow-up activities, including technology transfer, industry outreach, and networks for applied research.

Learning about innovations in the field of production and logistics

From presentations, demonstrations and exhibitions to conferences, training sessions and workshops (e.g. IoT FabLab) – BIBA frequently invites a diverse range of stakeholders to learn about and discuss innovations in production and logistics. Moreover, when it comes to new technologies, BIBA is encouraged to offer information, highlight relevant options and provide assistance in their introduction. Our infrastructure is ideally equipped for knowledge-transfer services, such as:

  • Awareness creation
  • Ecosystem building, scouting, brokerage, networking
  • Visioning and Strategy Development for Businesses
  • Collaborative Research
  • Concept validation and prototyping
  • Testing and validation
  • Digital Maturity Assessment
  • Incubator/accelerator support
  • Mentoring
  • Education and skills development
